I Have Never Let My Schooling Interfer With My Education?

Often quoted, “I have never let my schooling interfere with my educational career,” this maxim was originally coined by the American writer Grant Allen, a favorite subject of Mark Twain’s. He recognized that schooling wasn’t the only means to education, and noted that one couldn’t make a good man by cramming his head with Latin and Algebra. Today, it’s an increasingly popular refrain.
